A spectral illusion is usually the result of light refracting off of a surface, causeing a distortion of what they eye will see.
But when dealing with the Avian war force, Spectral illusions are more of a sign of death, then just a distortion. for when you see one, it usually will swoop down and decapitate you.

a speed paint I did of an avian just to try to being an idea of their armor to life.
I am most happy with this version over the others, since this makes me think of a much more magical force then just typical armor, or even sci-fi armor.

Never mind the fact that the wing is etherial, I wanted to show more muscle then wing, so I originally excluded it...but later chose to have it in for the wing armor factor.
